Making Changes
Why?
In a bid to continually improve the services provided we performed an audit of consultations which revealed that approximately 30% of patient contacts could have been undertaken by a more appropriate member of the team.
We want to make sure you see the clinician most suited to help you at every consultation; this is not always a doctor!
Who?
We have changed the make up of our team to vary the skill mix allowing the practice to provide more appointments for chronic health care and minor illness assessment.
What?
For routine consultations like contraception, health advice and blood pressure reviews and for acute minor illnesses such as coughs, rashes and common infections we will be asking you to see a member of the nursing team when you may have been used to seeing the GP. We hope that this provides quicker access to appointments when you are acutely unwell and allows the GPs to concentrate in the areas where they have wider clinical expertise.
When?
From Tuesday 4th October 2011.
How?
When making an appointment you will be asked for information about your problem to allow our reception team to direct you to the most appropriate member of the team. We understand that this is new and that at first, you may find this difficult. The more you are prepared to divulge the quicker we can make you an appointment with the most appropriate clinician.
If you would rather not give our reception team this information you will be asked to call back at Results & Advice time to speak directly with a clinician.
We’d love to hear your opinion on these changes. Please give us your feedback via our online Suggestions box.
