Minor Injuries Unit
Minor Injury Unit – St Andrews Community Hospital
The Minor Injury Unit (MIU) at St Andrews Community Hospital is open 24 hours a day and can be contacted directly on 01334 465683.
The MIU offers treatment to adults and children who have suffered a minor injury. You may attend without an appointment. Alternatively your GP or NHS 24 may ask you to attend.
All patients will be assessed by a qualified nurse with expertise in minor injuries. You will only be seen by a doctor if necessary; all children under the age of 6 years are routinely seen by a doctor.
The MIU aims to see patients as quickly as possible but the severity of your injury and workload will determine how quickly you will be seen.
Usually your treatment will be carried out at the unit at the time of your visit however on some occasions patients are asked to return for further investigations, for example an x-ray, or for review.
We normally send a copy of your MIU notes to your GP so that your health record can be updated.
