Dr Alan Scott
Dr Scott has a scientific background graduating from University of Glasgow in 1982 with a BSc (Immunology) before completing a PhD (Immunology) in 1986. He studied Medicine at University of Glasgow gaining MB,ChB in 199I. Although he sees himself as a Generalist he particularly enjoys Rheumatology, Minor Surgery and Diabetes care.
Usual availability: Monday to Friday except Thursday afternoon.
Dr Alison Bowman
Dr Bowman originally qualified as a Pharmacist from Heriott Watt University in 1979; BSc (Pharmacy). She studied Medicine at the Universities of St Andrews and Edinburgh graduating in 1986 with MB,ChB. She joined the practice initially as a retainer becoming a partner in 1999. She has maintained her interest in Pharmacology and Therapeutics completing a Diploma in Therapeutics in 1995. Dr Bowman is the joint clinical lead for Diabetic Care within the Practice.
Usual availability: Monday and Wednesday afternoons, Tuesday, Friday morning.
Dr Kate Russell
Dr Russell has been with the practice since 2001, having previously been a partner in a practice in Kinross. She graduated from the London Hospital Medical School in 1989 BSc(Psychology), MS,BS, and then underwent GP training in Cumbria and Aberdeenshire, gaining her MRCGP in 1994. She has her family planning diploma (DFFP) and is a certified IUD (coil) fitter. She has an interest in Dermatology and has gained her diploma in Practical Dermatology.
Usual availability: Monday and Tuesday mornings, Wednesday, Thursday afternoon.
Dr Nick Haldane
Dr Haldane joined the partnership in January 2004 after GP training in Tayside. He graduated from Dundee University in 1999 with MBChB. He gained MRCGP with Merit in 2003 and completed Diplomas in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Family Planning (DRCOG, DFFP). Dr Haldane enjoys the broad range of clinical challenges in General Practice but has particular interest in Addictions, Minor Surgery, Cardiology and Pre-Hospital Emergency care. He is trained to fit and remove Contraceptive Implants.
Usual availability: Monday to Friday except Wednesday afternoon.
Dr Anne Marie Taylor
Dr Taylor will join the team in January 2012 as a GP Retainer. She graduated from University of Glasgow with MBChB in 1999. She began her career in paediatrics gaining MRCPCH in 2005. Following GP training in Edinburgh she gained MRCGP and DFSRH in 2008. She has specific interests in Paediatrics, Sexual and Reproductive Health and clinical Genetics.
Usual availability: Thursday and Friday.
Jill Logan – Nurse Practitioner
Jill joined the practice in 1990. She qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1976 and gained a first class BSc (Hons) in Advanced Nursing Practice and a Diploma as a Nurse Practitioner in 1999. She qualified as a full Nurse Prescriber in 2003. Jill sees herself as a generalist but has also taken a keen interest in Chronic Disease Management, undertaking various diplomas including ones in respiratory medicine and diabetes.
Jill is available for telephone advice. She has daily appointments for people who are unwell and feel they require an assessment and gives prescriptions for treatment, when necessary.
Usual availability: Monday to Wednesday.
Wendy Penny – Senior Practice Nurse
Wendy joined the team as Senior Practice Nurse in September 2011. She qualified in 2000 and moved into Practice nursing quickly. She qualified as a Nurse Prescriber in 2007 and has further qualifications in Asthma, COPD, Diabetes and Family Planning.
Appointments can be booked with her for chronic disease management including COPD, Asthma and Diabetes and for discussion and prescribing of contraception. Once established in the practice she will be running our Diabetes and Coronary Heart Disease clinics.
Usual availability: Tuesday to Friday.
Helen Rice – Practice Nurse
Helen joined the team as a part time Practice Nurse in June 2011. She qualified in 1995 gaining a BA (Hons) in Nursing studies from Lancaster University. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings including Medicine, Surgery and Paediatrics. She joined us from NHS 24 where she was a member of the telephone triage / clinical assessment team.
Appointments can be booked with her for health checks, blood pressure reviews, cervical smears, lifestyle advice and travel advice.
Usual availability: Monday to Wednesday.
Johanna Scollay – Practice Nurse
Jo joined the team as a part time Practice Nurse in July 2011. She qualified with a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical sciences in 1997 gaining a postgraduate Diploma in Adult Nursing in 2001. She completed posts in Medicine before moving on to Community Nursing. She joined us having completed an “Introduction to General Practice Nursing” at Glasgow Caledonian University while working as a Practice Nurse in Dundee.
Appointments can be booked with her for health checks, blood pressure reviews, cervical smears, lifestyle advice and travel advice.

Fiona McLeod – Health Care Assistant
Fiona joined the practice team in 2005. She qualified as a Health Care Assistant in March 2008 and offers clinical support to the Doctors and Nurses in addition to her administrative role within the team.
Appointments can be booked with Fiona for Blood Pressure Checks and Health Checks. Fiona can perform ECGs on the instruction of other clinicians and Blood tests if the Phlebotomist is unavailable.
Usual availability: Monday to Friday mornings.
Margaret Mackie – Practice Manager
Margaret joined the team, on a part-time basis in May 2001, but took over as full-time Practice Manager in June 2003.
The Practice Manager’s role is to ensure the smooth running of the Primary Health Care Team. To contribute to and co-ordinate the team in developing and delivering high standards of practice whilst liaising with our Patients and other NHS organisations.
Violet Farquhar – Systems Manager
Violet joined the practice in September 1994. She became Systems Manager in July 2004 and has day-to-day responsibility for IT. She oversees all administrative systems within the practice and co-ordinates audit.
